They can weigh around 200 pounds as their very fat and muscular birds. Their faces are covered in loose wrinkly skin and have very low hanging jowls. This translates into English as distrust this means that these dogs will always be skeptical of you and never let you out of their sight. The Fila Brasileiro does not take kindly to strangers and when they’re shown in dog shows judges are told not to touch them. Many countries have outlawed ownership of this dog this includes the UK, Spain, Denmark, Italy, Norway, Israel, or Turkey. Certain US states, New Zealand and Australia have also banned these dogs.

They achieved massive notoriety in 2001 when a pair of these dogs named Bane and Hera took out a fitness coach in San Francisco. Diana Whipple sadly did not survive the encounter with these dogs and the owner Marjorie Nola is facing a life sentence behind bars. Because of this, they’re outlawed in Australia, New Zealand, and some US states. This causes the breed to be placed on the list of banned dog breeds.
